You have finally found the perfect home or apartment to move into. You think the hard part is over, however, you now have to decorate. What color scheme do you want? Will a sectional and a recliner fit in the living room? Do the wood finishes clash? It can be hard imagining what each singular piece will look like once you put it all together. Luckily, augmented reality (AR) is putting this problem in the past. You now do not have to wonder if you are buying cohesive pieces or size appropriate furniture. Here are some examples of how retailers are introducing them.

Place by IKEA

IKEA has introduced both an iOS and Android app where you can browse hundreds of furniture items. You can search for the perfect couch, dining table, or armchair for the space you are moving into. With a simple scan of your empty space, you can select a product to see how it looks. With the use of your camera you can scan the room and position the image of the item anywhere. You can add multiple items so you can see what looks best together.

See It In Your Space by Target

Target has recently upgraded their app. Not only can you save more money, use coupons, or do drive up orders, you can preview items in your home. When you are browsing items on the app, look for the AR icon in the bottom left corner of the item images. You then use your phone’s camera to see what the item would look like in your space. You can adjust angles, move it around the room, or even change the colors.

View Your Room by Amazon

In the Amazon app, you will find the View in Your Room feature. This allows you to design your space digitally with to scale products. Tap the camera icon to the right of the search bar and scroll to “View in Your Room”
